IPB UK bends to the needs of the market

ESTABLISHED in 2005, IPB UK Ltd has rapidly become established as a leading provider to the offshore, process and power generation industries in the UK and further afield.

ESTABLISHED in 2005, IPB UK Ltd has rapidly become established as a leading provider to the offshore, process and power generation industries in the UK and further afield.

Between the management and staff the experience in the induction forming of pipework bends is second to none within the UK and the company aims to provide a responsive, flexible approach allied to a quality product.

Employing over 30 employees and with a capacity of 2in NB through to 30in OD, IPB offers a bending range encompassing the majority of typical requirements with suitable materials including basic carbon and stainless steels, high yield and weld overlay clad steels, Duplex, Super Duplex and chrome-moly type materials.

In July 2009 IPB completed a move to a 32,000sq ft plant in Washington which, following significant investment has been refurbished specifically to suit the bending process allowing a marked increase in efficiency allied to the ability to consider larger contracts where required.

To complement the bending facility IPB also provides both destructive and non-destructive testing as in-house activities. The UKAS approved laboratory (IPB Mechanical Testing) is equipped for a range of operations appropriate to the customer base including mechanical testing, metallographic analysis and corrosion testing.

Although initially intended to operate as an internal test house, the laboratory now offers testing services to a wide customer base including oil and gas, power generation, general fabrication and heat-treatment sectors as well as steel stockists etc.

Newly established, IPB’s non-destructive testing service compliments the mechanical testing business by providing the option of in-house testing as and when required.

Operators are well versed in many aspects of non destructive testing across a range of materials and are qualified to ASNT and PCN requirements at Level II with company procedures externally verified to Level III by The Welding Institute.

As the NDT operation becomes more developed the intention is to introduce in-house supervision at Level III and to allow further on-site working to become available.

IPB UK Ltd is based on Wear Industrial Estate, Washington, Tyne & Wear, and has excellent transport links to the North East and the rest of the UK.
