Hundreds of jobs stay on Wearside as Parseq signs 10-year lease

The former Nike unit has new tenants in Sunderland, safeguarding 1,000 jobs

Around 1,000 jobs have been safeguarded on Wearside after leading business process outsourcer Parseq Limited relocated to new unit on Doxford International Business Park.

The 32,000sq ft building was put up for sale or to let back last October when previous tenant Nike moved into new offices elsewhere in Sunderland.

The three storey, 32,000 sq ft building managed by Commercial Estate Group was designed for Nike when the sportswear giant chose Sunderland as the home of its UK headquarters.

The owners have since completely refurbished the building at 1, Victory Way, paving the way for Parseq to move into the building.

GVA acting jointly with DTZ for Commercial Estates Group have secured the letting on a new 10-year lease.

Parseq Limited acquired Sunderland-based 2Touch in May for an undisclosed sum from US company Acxiom, as part of its strategy to create a business with a £100m turnover in three years. The combined business has turnover of £65m.

Tony Wordsworth, director and head of offices at GVA in Newcastle, said: “This is the largest letting in Sunderland over recent years and secures a substantial number of jobs at Doxford Park in an impressive fully refurbished and prominently located office building.”

The enlarged Parseq business will employ around 2,700 people working from five key sites in Rotherham, Sunderland, Glasgow, London and Brighton.
