Heather Stoney has been appointed as assistant organiser of the biennial National Sheep Association event, to support organiser Julie Sedgewick.

Ms Stoney, from Harrogate, grew up on her family’s farm breeding sheep and cattle and showing commercial beef cattle. She is promotions and breed development officer for the LLeyn Sheep Association. Ms Sedgewick said: “I am delighted to welcome Heather Stoney to the NSA North Sheep team.

“Heather is passionate about breeding, showing and promoting sheep, and has a really good understanding of the industry, its issues and how it operates.”

NSA North Sheep 2013 takes place on June 5 at Crimple Head Farm near Harrogate, North Yorks.

The previous event, held in Northumberland in 2011, attracted 7,000 visitors and 230 trade stands.
