GT Group Ltd is to create 200 new jobs over four years and safeguard over 200 more after securing forward sales commitments of £200m for its revolutionary engine emissions control systems.
The specialist engineering product design and manufacturing company, based in County Durham, has secured the commitments, spanning the next five years, for its ground-breaking systems, developed in partnership with the world's leading on- and off-highway diesel engine manufacturers.
Global manufacturers are now installing the new exhaust and thermal control technology in the next generation of engines. The technology will control emissions and improve the efficiency and cleanliness of engines to meet tough international regulations. Among the clients taking up the GT Group technology is plant giant JCB, which is to incorporate the firm's exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system into its vehicles.
The workforce, which currently stands at just over 200, will double over the next four years. The systems developed will have a huge environmental impact, and will be fitted to the world's trucks, buses, tractors, marine and construction equipment.
GT Group's range of emissions and thermal control products dramatically reduce the pollutants produced by diesel engines. These innovative solutions have helped secure new contracts from the world's major vehicle manufacturers providing emissions solutions for on and off highway engines.
Jobs created will cover a range of disciplines with an emphasis on research, design, management and highly skilled engineers.
One North East is contributing £1.5m over the next three years in support of GT Group's £10m capital investment and R&D programmes.
