Baker Greggs is giving its customers a taste of the digital age through a new mobile app.

The baker is moving with the times after it announced last year it was shifting its focus to the ‘food-on-the-go’ market.

Called Greggs Rewards, the new app combines mobile payments with a loyalty scheme and customers will be able to pay in store using their mobile phones.

Payments will be made through a Quick Response code which can either be scanned or the customer can enter the code into a chip and pin machine.

The scheme aims to reward customer loyalty with users getting offers, free coffee and prize draws. The app is currently invitation only, but will be released to the full market over the course of the next few months.

Newcastle-based Three Motion Media has produced a video to launch the app which can be downloaded from the baker’s website.

Three Motion’s creative director, Neil Wood-Mitchell said: “We’re delighted to help Greggs promote their new innovative app through video. We hope it helps communicate the fantastic features the app provides. It’s great for the North East and we look forward to working on future projects with Greggs.”
