AN enterprise agency in Northumberland is closing down after helping more than 140 firms to find a base for their business.

Luke Dunnett was the commercial premises manager at Go Wansbeck for five years, working with new and expanding enterprises in Ashington, Bedlington and Newbiggin by the Sea areas.

His job involved matching businesses with suitable premises and then negotiating a good deal for them.

But Mr Dunnett, who has worked in a school, as a tax man and with Defra, is now job hunting himself after funding for the enterprise agency came to an end.

He said: “It’s been a great job and I got a lot of satisfaction out of seeing businesses move into properties that I had sourced and helped them to get the best deal possible. I’m looking forward to whatever new challenge comes along.

“I really enjoy helping people. Whether its advising on shop rental availability or the allocation of new warehouse facilities, I get a real buzz from seeing businesses set up and develop in the Wansbeck area.”

Those he worked with include Kate Dawson, from Ashington-based The All In One Company, which creates custom made all-in-one sleep suits for children and adults.

The company has taken orders from as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
