Gateshead-based IT and telecoms provider Advantex Network Solutions Ltd is looking to secure further growth after achieving the security industry’s highest professional certification.

The fast-growing firm has gained the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) NACOSS Gold Award, widely regarded by industry, the police, the fire and rescue services and insurers as the top mark for quality.

Advantex, which has sales of £4m and currently employs 40 people, supplies and supports a range of IP (Internet Protocol) camera systems and infrastructure services to regional and national customers such as GE Wellstream, The Gambling Commission, Nissan, SCS, Redcar and Cleveland College and Gateshead College.

It is the only North East IT firm - and one of only a handful nationally - to have gained the gold standard and achieved certification in less than three months

The National Security Inspectorate (NSI), formerly known as NACOSS, is an independent, not-for-profit approvals’ body providing inspection services for the security and fire industries.

Achieving NACOSS Gold approval - NSI’s premier approval scheme - is a significant achievement and is awarded to firms that deliver the highest standards of service through ISO 9000 quality management as well as the relevant British and European standards.

Advantex directors Stephen and David O’Connell have invested significantly in the Follingsby Close-based firm to ensure they achieved certification and to demonstrate to the NSI that their business operates to the highest standards.

Initiatives have included the implementation of new quality control systems and procedures, as well as a number of specialist staff training programmes aimed at boosting core skills in customer service and care, security system engineering and installation expertise.

The NSI operates a stringent approach to approvals, signifying that businesses that choose NSI-approved companies like Advantex will be reassured that their contractors will work to the relevant industry standards and will be regularly audited to ensure continual compliance.

Advantex is looking to build on the latest success to drive sales of the high quality IP systems and cameras it designs and supplies to customers as part of a comprehensive service that complies with NSI standards.

NSI’s service delivery director, Kay Aitkin said: “Advantex’s attainment of NACOSS Gold approval within three months is an impressive achievement; demonstrating the planning and hard work carried out by David and his team.

“By choosing to become approved by NSI, Advantex can reassure their customers that their business practices are being regularly and robustly scrutinised by the UK’s leading certification body for the security industry. We congratulate Advantex and wish them every success in the future.”

Advantex’s operations director, David O’Connell, said: “NACOSS Gold approval is testament to not only the excellence and quality of the added value solutions we provide but also the high calibre people we employ who help to drive the business forward.

“This success is the latest step on the company’s continuous improvement journey, adding to the already impressive quality management systems we have in place.

“We provide one of the best services around in North East England and NACOSS Gold approval will help to reassure new customers that we are a solutions-based market leader in advanced, high quality IP technology and installations.”

Advantex was established in 2002 and achieved the ISO9001/2000 industry quality mark within its first year of trading.

It also holds the IOS9001/2008 mark and is an accredited Microsoft, Cisco and Mitel partner, providing a single source package which combines to deliver flexibility, added value and cost saving benefits.
