Four Housing has unveiled plans to create more affordable homes in Gateshead.
The not-for-profit housing provider plans to develop 15 two and three-bedroom houses, representing a £1.7m investment in the area.
The homes, which would be created in partnership with Gateshead Council and built by Able Construction, are being proposed on the site of a former church, Our Lady of the Annunciation.
They will add to Four Housing’s existing three-bedroom properties found on Millway Close, which saw £500,000 invested into the area when they were created in 2012. £420,000 of the newly announced investment is recycled capital grant funding (RCGF) that was provided to Four Housing by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), with the remainder made up of private borrowing.
Commenting on the investment, Dawn Keightley, group director of operations at Four Housing said: “Our existing properties in Millway have been extremely popular and we expect to see similar demand for the properties on this new site. Welfare reforms have created new challenges for social housing providers so it is particularly pleasing to be able to announce this investment in new stock now.”
