A specialist recruitment firm has been appointed by a leading contracting group to help it fill 350 jobs needed to build four gas platforms
Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) which specialises in engineering and fabrication, has enlisted Fircroft to recruit the contractors to assist in construction of the platforms for the Cygnus gas field project in the southern North Sea.
The deal means about 10,500 tonnes of fabrication work will be done in Hartlepool, ensuring work in the yard until 2015.
Fircroft, which has offices in Billingham, Whitehaven, and five other UK locations, has now embarked on a campaign to attract workers from across the region.
As well as advertising campaigns Fircroft is also holding a series of open days in Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough football stadiums.
Founded in 1970, Fircroft provides recruitment services to oil and gas companies operating in the North Sea and places workers in 45 countries worldwide.
More than 800 applications have already rolled in from across the region for the Cygnus project.
The firm said the project is a prime example of the North East’s strong reputation for quality engineering.
Fircroft business manager Lee Bailey said: “This is a major project that Fircroft is excited to be part of.
“Our infrastructure and capabilities, combined with the quality of engineering skills in the North East enable us to deliver an unrivalled solution to meet Heerema’s recruitment needs.
Heerema HR manager Sandra Groom said: “We have worked with Fircroft in Teesside for more than 10 years and, after a rigorous evaluation of their capabilities, decided they were the best choice for this major contract award.
