BUSINESS partners Michael Carrick and Steven Johnson are investing £250,000 into a new office for their rapidly-growing financial management firm.

Both worked for Prudential but five years ago, after a round of redundancies, they seized the opportunity to form their own company Carrick Financial Management in Cramlington, Northumberland.

Now, with an 800-strong client base, the partners have decided to make the move to new custom-designed office space at Blezard Business Park, Seaton Burn, to accommodate their growing portfolio.

The new offices will house Carrick Financial Management’s 10 staff and will give the company better access to Newcastle Airport and the A1, as it looks to expand in the North-East and London.

The firm handles a portfolio of financial products, from life assurance and critical illness cover to mortgages and investment bonds.

After 10 years with Prudential, Michael left the company in August 2001 and set up his own business, just weeks before 9/11 and the subsequent crash in global financial investment markets.

He said: “It wasn’t a great time to be in financial services as a lot of people panicked and started to get their money out of investments. But there was only one way to go and that was forward – we’ve persevered and it has paid results. The move into our new offices is a milestone for us. There is a lot of growth taking place, we are adding to our client base and we have brought in additional advisers.”
