Fabricom Offshore Services, which is headquartered in Newcastle, has been nominated for a top oil and gas industry accolade for its investment in its workforce.

The fast-evolving engineering company has been shortlisted for Oil & Gas UK’s People Development award, which recognises oil and gas companies that have made significant contributions to staff learning and development over the last year.

Fabricom was nominated for its pioneering oil and gas skills and development Academy, in which apprentices and graduates receive on-the-job training.

Chief executive Allan Cairns said: “To be shortlisted for this award is not only a fantastic industry acknowledgement but it is also a tremendous tribute to all the team at Fabricom Offshore Services who play a pivotal role in the company’s development of our people.

“People are at the core of Fabricom’s business philosophy. Strong and sustainable talent is key to maintaining our success, and the Academy is a fundamental part of that. Our aim is to encourage the next generation of talent into the vibrant oil and gas industry, benefiting our company, the region and the industry as a whole.”

More than 30 people are now undergoing apprenticeships, graduate training programmes and professional development schemes with the company. Another 12 are expected this year.

The award ceremony will take place in Aberdeen on November 7.
