A high achiever from fast evolving engineering firm Fabricom Offshore Services, has been nominated for a top industry award.
Leila Benomran, 26, from Teesside, has been shortlisted for The Offshore Contractors Association’s Rising Star Award for Training due to her effective use of team work, commitment to the company and ability to apply learning to practical situations.
Benomran, who has a first class honours degree in civil engineering with disaster management, joined the Newcastle-headquartered Fabricom through its training academy, and is now employed as a trainee project manager.
Fabricom chief executive Allan Cairns said: “For Leila to be shortlisted for the Rising Star Award is an incredible achievement and highlights the sheer determination she has displayed.
“People are at the heart of Fabricom’s business philosophy, and developing strong and sustainable talent is crucial to maintaining our success.
“By putting employees through specialised training programs, we not only develop vital skills within the company but we are also helping to fill the skills gap on a wider level, thus benefitting Fabricom, the region and the oil and gas industry as a whole.”
Since its creation in September 2012, The Fabricom Offshore Services Academy has brought more than 30 people into apprenticeships and similar schemes.
Another intake of around 12 people is expected this year.
The winner of the Rising Star award will be announced on October 31.
