Fabricom Offshore Services today moved 24 engineering and project personnel previously employed at Belasis Hall Technology Park to a larger, state-of-the-art site at Wynyard Park House.

The company, known as a leading provider of brownfield engineering, procurement, construction and project management services for the offshore oil and gas industry, is now predicting further expansion and will be recruiting at least 26 new Teesside employees.

Fabricom’s chief executive Allan Cairns said: “This is an exciting time for our business and signifies another key milestone.

“The Teesside office has quickly become an integral part of our business and the team has achieved some excellent results in a relatively short space of time.

“The expansion will allow us to build on these successes and extend our capabilities even further.”

Wynyard office engineering manager Colin Taylor added: “The move to new, high quality business premises in Wynyard Park represents a long-term commitment by Fabricom Offshore Services to the Teesside area, enabling us to tap into the vast pool of competent, talented, and experienced engineering resources.”

Since its formation in 2007, Fabricom has grown rapidly, with Cairns confirming in January that turnover had hit 33m in the previous year.

Within three years time, he added, the company was aiming to boost the figure to 50m.

Having established offices in Teesside and Newcastle, it set up a presence in Aberdeen less than a year ago and now employs a total of around 320 people.

The Wynyard office will act as an engineering execution centre, home to the company’s Concept Study Group, which consists of multi-discipline engineers, including a number of experienced process engineers with access to advanced design software.

Complementing that group is an engineering and design team, providing support to active projects for clients such as EnQuest, Talisman Sinopec, Maersk Oil, GDF Suez E&P UK and Total E&P B.V.

Development Director of Wynyard Park, Matt Johnson, said: “We are delighted to welcome a company of the stature of Fabricom Offshore Services. It is a real coup for Wynyard Park, which is now approaching 100% let, to attract a company that has enjoyed significant growth over the last six years.

“It also represents an important milestone in our own development as the number of people employed on-site now exceeds 2,000.

“Fabricom Offshore Services’ decision to re-locate to Wynyard Park is great news for Teesside as it demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the area by a company that is already a significant employer.”
