Enterprise Rent-A-Car has opened a branch in Newcastle’s revamped Central Station.
The US-headquartered car hire firm says increasing demand has prompted the move, which has created four jobs.
One of the roles will be for a graduate who will be part of Enterprise’s nationwide Management Trainee Programme.
In July, Enterprise opened a branch in Birtley, creating five new jobs, two of which were for graduates.
Enterprise currently operates four branches in Newcastle and hopes to target business travellers with the Central Station desk.
Brian Waligora, general manager of Enterprise in the North, said: “Thousands of people go through Newcastle station every day and for many, hiring a car is the most flexible and practical choice of onward travel.
“The branch opening is part of our strategy to offer services at transport hubs across the UK - we’re planning to open a branch later this summer at York railway station.
“It’s pleasing to see the company performing strongly in the North East and creating job opportunities for people in the region. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Newcastle and local residents to the branch, and we look forward to having new members on the team.”
The new site adds to Enterprise’s growing network of more than 370 locations throughout the UK.
St. Louis-based Enterprise Holdings, the largest car rental service provider in the world, operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand through its regional subsidiaries.
Enterprise started in the UK in 1994 and has rapidly expanded. Currently operating more than 370 locations across the UK, it employs over 3,000 people.
