Duco Ltd, which has a manufacturing and research facility on the River Tyne and a project management team at Cobalt, North Tyneside, has won a coveted Investors in People (IiP) Gold award.

The project management, engineering and umbilical manufacturing company achieved the status, held by only 1% of the UK’s best-in-class organisations, for its exceptional people management practice.

Duco forms part of the Technip Umbilical Systems group which, in May, is set to open the world’s most advanced steel tube umbilical manufacturing facility at Walker riverside, Newcastle, safeguarding over 160 jobs.

Jean-Louis Rostaing, Technip Umbilical Systems managing director, said: “We are thrilled to have received the Gold standard this year, after having successfully attained Silver in 2010, and as a result of continuously improving our people management processes, following the three year reassessment.”
