Teesside software development company dotUK has won a new contract with a Newton Aycliffe start-up.
The technology firm is creating an app for Baby Biography Ltd that allows users to collect and record moments through pregnancy, birth and the early years of childhood, all of which can be shared on social media and ultimately collated into a keepsake book. The firm is able to offer the technology, used on both iPhone and Android phones, at a significantly reduced cost, having found a solution to notoriously tricky source coding problems.
Founder Andy Flisher said: “The app is innovative as it works fully offline and syncs up with the cloud as backup. This means it can be used in any location by parents, grandparents and friends in collaboration. We are very happy to be supporting a start-up business in the local area.”
The consumer-focused contract represents something of a change for the primarily business-to-business developer, which employs 18 people and offers web, mobile, app and software development services from its headquarters on Yarm High Street.
Nicola Gildert, owner of Baby Biography Ltd, said: “When I had my own baby I really wanted to record all of the first things he did. I had a baby book to fill in but I had so little time and all I had to hand was my phone. The app can be used from pregnancy and allows parents to record key milestones and other important information. Within the app the user will have the option to purchase a beautiful keepsake book with all these memories in it.”
