Designs for the £7.5m development of Lower Steenberg’s Yard in Ouseburn are to go on show to the public this week.
Developers Carillion-igloo and architects xsite will display the designs for 37 homes and a range of commercial units at the Cycle Hub in Ouseburn on Tuesday November 4, between 2pm-7pm.
The designs will completed for planning application before construction is hoped to start in summer 2015.
David Roberts, director of igloo Regeneration, said: “This is a unique scheme, which builds on the unprecedented success of the neighbouring The Malings development to offer brand new opportunities to live and work close to a magnificent riverfront and the city centre.
The exhibition will detail how upper levels, accessed off Ouse Street are planned host residential properties of between one and five bedrooms.
Most will have terraces or roof gardens with views opening out onto the Ouseburn River.
New steps are to be built at 90 degrees to the street and named ‘Steenberg’s Chare’, connecting Ouse Street with the quayside once again.
Developers also envisage that Ouse Street will become one way for traffic, allowing parallel road side parking.
The public consultation exhibition for Lower Steenberg’s Yard will be on display at the Cycle Hub from Tuesday November 4, 2pm-7pm with members of the design team present to answer questions.
