Debbie ploughs way to win

Teenager Debbie Watson, from Bingfield, took the championship at the Tynedale ploughing match at the Chipchase Estate, Wark, at the weekend.

Sixteen-year-old Debbie will now represent Northumberland in the British Championships at Guildford, Surrey, in the young farmers' class on October 14.

The reserve championship went to Ray Alderson, of Darlington.

The next ploughing match is the South Tyne Ploughing Association on Saturday, September 30, at North Acomb Farm, Stocksfield.
