A site manager from David Wilson Homes will represent the North East on Friday in a competition aimed at finding the best builders in the UK.

For the second year running, Mark Summersgill has won through to the national finals of the Pride in the Job awards for quality workmanship.

Summersgill, of Middlesbrough, is up against champions from eight other regions in the Large Builder category of the awards, which are among the most coveted in the housebuilding industry.

He said: “This is all down to the great team working with me.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, you need the right people working together to build a top quality new home. I strive to run an efficient build that is quality controlled at every point.”

The Pride in the Job awards are organised by the National House Building Council, which judged more than 13,000 site managers across the UK on all aspects of their work, including technical skill, quality workmanship and customer service. Winners will be announced at a gala event in London on Friday.

Mike Roberts, managing director at David Wilson North East said Summersgill “thoroughly deserves” the recognition.
