Dalton Park bucking trend in shopping

Outlet shopping centre Dalton Park reports a 5.6% rise in like-for-like sales in the first half of this year despite the CBI reporting that May produced the steepest fall in retail sales in 16 months.

Dalton Park reported a 2.4% climb in visitors, with spend per head up 1.6% in the first half of 2013.

Recent new openings have included Jeff Banks, The Body Shop, The Fragrance Shop, That’s Entertainment and The Gift Company.

Jerry Hatch, general manager – outlets for Knight Frank, the asset managers for Dalton Park, said: “These first half results follow on from what was a very strong 2012 for the centre.

“We look forward to phase two of our development which will significantly enhance and complement our current retail offer and will include a food store, cinema, restaurants, petrol station, hotel and pub.

“In the region of 500 jobs will be created as a result of the development.”
