Creative agency Guerilla meets challenge of app in six languages

Newcastle creative agency Guerilla has launched an app in six languages for a European wholesale and retail business

Creative agency Guerilla has launched a multi-lingual app for a wholesale business operating across Europe.

It designed the app for the Phoenix Group – a wholesale and retail business in Europe.

The Newcastle firm was tasked with designing and managing a single BENU Pharmacy-branded app that could benefit customers across six countries – the Netherlands, Hungary, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Latvia.

The biggest technological challenge Guerilla faced was to deliver the apps’ content in six different languages and character sets across two differently designed mobile platforms, including iOS and Android. Guerilla managing director James Allen said: “BENU Pharmacy chains are an entirely customer-focused healthcare provider, so it was important that the app was designed to provide features and benefits that would be relevant across the six countries.”

Additional features were added to take advantage of the technology available for mobile devices. These include geolocation, which automatically identifies nearby BENU Pharmacies and their promotions, which are then automatically delivered to the device.

Guerilla, based in Newcastle city centre, has grown to sales of £2m since being launched nearly 12 years ago.
