AN IT consultancy firm has expanded into new offices following a successful first 14 months in business.
Further Consultancy, which specialises in managing projects for technology firms to ensure they stay within budget and on time, has moved from Durham into new offices at Gateshead International Business Centre.
The Gateshead Council-run centre selects licensees based on their creativity and business acumen, so the company’s directors Judith Peacock and Jill Newey are thrilled to have been accepted.
Judith, director of Further, said: “The new office has everything we needed as a base for our operations, a dynamic and vibrant atmosphere, a great mix of companies, excellent facilities and robust support services from the centre’s management team. Andy Mather, business centre officer at Gateshead International Business Centre, has been really supportive during the application process, and we’re now looking forward to building the relationship as licensees with him and the team.”
Judith puts Further’s early success down to a creative approach to project management and lots of hard work. She added: “Jill and I have put in many hours of hard work over the last few months, and it’s all paying off.
“We’ve added some high profile organisations to our client list, such as The North-East Regional Portal, Digital City, The Princes Trust and One NorthEast, and even more importantly we’re getting huge amounts of enjoyment out of the exciting projects were working on.”
The digital divas set up Further Consultancy after research showed that while many digital businesses think up great ideas for groundbreaking new technologies with ease, their projects often went over budget or missed deadlines because the company lacked the skills or resources needed to manage the project properly.
After many years working on these types of projects, they are offering the benefit of their experience in the form of in-house consultancy and workshops. The duo, well known in the business support arena both regionally and nationally, built up their knowledge and experience working on projects for organisations such as the North-East’s digital centre of excellence Codeworks, the DTI, the Small Business Service; ICI; Occidental and EMAP Performance.
Jill Newey said: “Our work isn’t about any one particular project management methodology – it’s simply about making things happen in a way that learning is retained within the company.”
Further Consultancy is a member of Codeworks Connect, the trade association for the North-East’s digital sector. Herb Kim, CEO of Codeworks, said: “It’s pleasing to see that Further has achieved such impressive growth and success within short space of time. We wish them every success.”
