A recycling solutions firm has enrolled three North East colleges on to its books.
O'Brien Waste Recycling Solutions, which employs more than 400 people across the region, has signed a three-year contract for an undisclosed sum with Sunderland, Tyne Met and South Tyneside colleges.
The contract, which is part of the North East Shared Services Project, will see O’Brien’s managing the general and mixed recycling waste removal from the three colleges, all of which are aiming to increase their recycling rates and lower waste management costs.
The contract also includes the option to access additional services offered by O’Brien’s such as confidential data shredding, snow clearance and gritting.
Nathan O’Brien, director of waste management, said: “We have a great deal of experience in the education sector as we currently work with Sunderland, Northumbria and Newcastle Universities and hundreds of primary and secondary schools across the region.”
