Firms across the region are being encouraged to nominate their achievements for the 2014 Biomedical Awards.
Bionow is urging companies and individuals to take part in the awards, now in their second year, which will culminate in a ceremony at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art on April 24, to mark the strength, depth and diversity of the companies within the biomedical sector.
Categories for the awards include export, outstanding growth, innovation and technology, partnership with the public sector, collaboration with a business and promising technologist, which goes to an exceptional individual who works for a biomedical company or research institutions.
The awards are hosted by Bionow, the leading membership organisation for the biomedical and life sciences industry in the North of England which has more than 200 members.
The North of England is one of the UK’s and Europe’s largest biomedical regions, accounting for 20% of the UK’s biomedical companies, employment and turnover.
Comprising of 925 life science and healthcare companies, the region generates a turnover of £10.9bn and employs over 38,000 people.
Geoff Davison, chief executive officer of Bionow said: “The awards were launched last year and gave a real insight into the array of innovative and forward thinking biomedical companies which are based in the North of England.
Closing date for entries is March 14 2014, with the shortlist of finalists due to be announced on 1 April 2014. Further information on the award categories, criteria and the online nomination form is accessible on the events section of the website www.bionow.co.uk
