Leisure operators Cairn Group have opened the doors of their latest venture on Jesmond’s Osborne Road.

As revealed by The Journal earlier this year, the North East firm has put £500,000 into transforming the former Berlisle bar premises in 97 & Social.

The cocktail and gastro bar has been designed by interior specialists Bar Hound who have remodelled the premises with booths, an outdoor terrace and space for around 400 customers.

Cairn has created 20 jobs in the move which is part of a wider £2m overhaul of the site, including the neighbouring Sohe and Cairn Hotel businesses.

General manager Sarah Harker said: “Jesmond is a prime location and we wanted to develop a concept which responded imaginatively to the demands of customers.

“We wanted to transform the bar and let our guests enjoy something new. There’s nothing like this around, it’s a prime location for a bar with a real difference, where people unwind, listen to great music whilst enjoying world class cocktails.”
