Banking group Santander helps social enterprises with awards

Prizes of up to £10,000 up for grabs in the Social Enterprise Development Awards run by banking group Santander

Social enterprises and charities in the region working for the direct benefit of their communities can win up to £10,000 through a community investment programme run by Santander.

The Social Enterprise Development Awards are open to all such organisations in the North East that provide training or employment opportunities, tackle social exclusion or environmental impacts, and have been trading for at least a year.

In the Enterprising Charities category, prizes of £2,000, £5,000 and £10,000 will be up for grabs. The Social Ventures category, meanwhile, offers a prize of £5,000 to social enterprises and Community Interest Companies looking to grow their businesses.

Craig Iley, regional director at Santander, said: “The Santander Social Enterprise Development Awards were set up to provide support to social ventures looking to grow and to recognise the valuable role they play in supporting communities. Our aim is to help people and businesses prosper and we are looking forward to helping even more dynamic businesses across the North East increase their social impact through this programme.”
