COMMERCIAL law firm Watson Burton has welcomed one of its most respected lawyers into its partnership.
Anne-Marie Knight has been promoted to the position of partner after 20 years with the firm, specialising in professions and insurance. As a highly skilled lawyer, she has conducted a wide range of claims through litigation, arbitration and adjudication.
She has extensive experience in defending claims brought against professionals for a variety of insurers, with particular emphasis on those against solicitors, surveyors, valuers, architects and engineers.
Recently, Knight has worked on a number of matters for key clients of the firm, including the defence of a multi-party, multi-million pound piling dispute for a large contractor, advising in relation to a large portfolio of claims against solicitors in respect of a housing development and advising in relation to a substantial claim against accountants for incorrect tax advice.
Work such as this has resulted in her winning praise from leading industry publications, with Chambers and Partners describing her as “switched on”, noting her “depth of knowledge in construction related claims” and “quality of work”.
She said: “I am delighted to have joined the partnership. I have worked for Watson Burton since undertaking my training contract in 1991 and am immensely proud of what the firm has achieved during my time here.
“Our professions and insurance service is continuously evolving and has gained a solid reputation as a niche practice of choice for well-known national insurers. I look forward to helping build further on this success in my new role as partner.”
Richard Palmer, head of professions and insurance at Watson Burton said: “Anne-Marie’s promotion is well deserved. Over the years, she has contributed a great deal to the success of the firm and is held in high regard by team members and clients alike.
“We are confident that she will thrive as a partner and wish her all the best in her new role.”
