Engineering giant Amec, which employs around 1,000 people in the North East, has been awarded a renewed contract by the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to provide project management consultancy services for a portfolio of major upstream projects.

The five-year “call off” contract is worth around £255m and was won in a competitive tender. It follows Amec’s successful delivery of two previous contracts held since 2004.

The company’s operations director in Kuwait, Alan Armstrong, said: “I am delighted that KOC has recognised our excellent performance over the last 10 years with the award of this significant contract.

“We are delivering value for our customer.”
