THE North of England Branch Stock-judging Event attracted 200 competitors to Hexham Mart.

Master judge, Edgar Charlton of Greenleas, presided over 10 classes on Wednesday – North of England Gimmers, Mule In Lamb Hoggs, North of England Tup Hoggs, Scotch Type Ewe Hoggs, North of England Ewe Hoggs, Swaledale Ewes, North of England Ewes, Bluefaced Leicester Tup Hoggs and Scotch Type Ewes.

Overall champion was the North of England ewe from M/s A Murray & Sons, Sewingshields, Haydon Bridge. The Murrays also took the Potter Wood and Henry Walton Shears for best presented pen of sheep, with a pen of North of England ewes.

A bottle of whisky for picking the overall champion went to competitor Stuart Hall of The Raw.

Ladies: 1st: Annabelle Morshead, Joint 2nd: Diane Anderson & Jane Parker.

YFC: 1st: Craig Ridley, 2nd: Scott Young, 3rd: Philip Robinson.

Under-16s: 1st: Jamie Lawson, 2nd: Jacob Wilson, 3rd: Cameron McDermott.

North of England Type:1st: Wanwood Hill 2nd: High Staward, 3rd: Wanwood Hill.

Scotch Type: 1st: Dudlees 2nd: Dudlees 3rd: Wanwood Hill.
