The owners of Newcastle Quayside bar Livello have unveiled a new look to the venue in the week it triumphed as North East Bar of the Year.
Hospitality firm Gainford Hotels said it has invested more than £100,000 on the interior of the bar, employing as many as 60 people to make sure the project was achieved in record time.
The firm said the makeover was carried out on the two-storey bar, attached to the Vermont Hotel, in several phases while it was closed to drinkers during the day.
A spokesman for Gainford Hotels said: “We carried it out stage by stage and had so many people working on it – between 50 and 60 – that we got it done in record time.
“Livello has only been open 18 months but we want to make sure we keep it looking fresh.
“So much is changing in the bar industry, especially on the Quayside. The footfall we have over the course of each weekend is huge so we felt Livello needed a fresh lick of paint.”
Last week Livello scooped the coveted North East Bar of the Year Award at the Benevolent Awards, organised by Licensed Trade international, having seen off competition from Popolo, Hoochie Coochie, Nectar, Tokyo and Browns.
