Specialist building services group Northern Bear has announced changes to its board structure.
Steve Roberts, current finance director, becomes executive chairman, replacing Howard Gold who is stepping down after five years. Replacing Roberts as finance director will be Tom Hayes.
A company spokesman said: “Steve has been a director of the company since its inception and has played a key part in assisting group managing director Graham Jennings and the board with restructuring since his appointment as finance director in Ocrober 2009.
“His extensive experience with the company makes him an ideal candidate for the position and the right person to guide the board in delivering its strategy going forward.
“Tom, who will join the board as executive director, is a chartered accountant with substantial experience within the ‘Big Four’ firms in both assurance and corporate finance services.”
The company spokesman also paid tribute to Gold’s services in guiding the group through a severe recession and major restructuring process.
Northern Bear provides specialist building services to local authorities, housing associations, NHS trusts,universities, construction companies and national housebuilders throughout the North of England.
Based at Prestwick, Newcastle, it was floated on AIM in December 2006.
There are currently 12 businesses in the Northern Bear family which together employ more than 300 people.
