North East-based Ryecroft Glenton has promoted two of its experienced executives to managerial roles within the firm.

Abu Ali is now corporate finance manager and works within Ryecroft Glenton’s corporate finance service line. Andrew Wordsworth has been promoted to VAT manager within the well-established accountancy and business advisory practice.

Abu Ali is an experienced chartered accountant who joined Ryecroft Glenton in 2012 as a corporate finance senior. Abu has worked on a number of high-profile transactions, acquisitions and disposals as part of the corporate finance team headed by Carl Swansbury. Recent deals include the sale of the trade and assets of Mc2 to Jark plc, and fund raising projects for We Are Decide and Maxim FM.

Andrew Wordsworth joined Ryecroft Glenton in 2008 as a chartered accountant. He has recently qualified as a chartered tax adviser and is the immediate past chairman of the North East Young Chartered Accountants Group. Andrew has specialised in VAT since joining Ryecroft Glenton, working on issues including VAT compliance work, advising clients on methods to mitigate VAT costs and dealing with HMRC on clients’ behalf.

Chris Robson, managing partner of Ryecroft Glenton, said: “We are delighted to announce Abu and Andrew’s promotions. They have both worked with us well for some years and have actively contributed to the development of our firm. They are a testimony to the firm’s commitment to developing and nurturing talent from within, and the promotions reinforce the active approach clients can expect from Ryecroft Glenton.“

Andrew said: “It’s great news to be promoted to VAT manager, and it means I’ll be seeing more of clients to advise them of VAT issues as they affect their businesses. Ryecroft Glenton has an exceptionally strong tax team and we work really well together to provide best results for clients.”

Abu said: “I’m delighted to be promoted to corporate finance manager. It’s exciting to be part of Ryecroft Glenton’s corporate finance service line, as it grows. The reputation of the firm and the success achieved by Ryecroft Glenton’s corporate finance team were the key reasons behind my decision to join the firm two years ago. It’s been great to work on some key deals across the region and nationally over the past few years..”

Partner of Ryecroft Glenton, Carl Swansbury, added: “Abu’s experience, commitment and positive attitude have proved to be invaluable assets for our team. This has been a busy, successful year, and Abu’s contribution has been extremely helpful. His focus and enthusiasm will continue to strengthen the team as we go forward. We are also fortunate to benefit from the first-rate skills of Ryecroft Glenton managers such as Andrew, and partners in areas including tax planning and financial due diligence.”

Ryecroft Glenton is a 100-strong firm with 15 partners and offices in Newcastle, Morpeth, Rothbury and Whitley Bay. It specialises in tax, corporate finance, business services, audit and assurance.
