The Darlington-based PR firm has appointed a new senior consultant, experienced journalist Liz Hands. Liz joins Recognition with a wealth of journalistic experience behind her. She has worked at the Evening Standard in London and is a former news editor for The Journal, Chronicle and Sunday Sun.

Liz has also worked on regional magazines such as Horizons, the magazine for Newcastle Airport, and represented major companies including Jet 2, Lloyd BMW and La-Redoute.

Also joining the team at Recognition PR is new PR assistant Kieran McCormick. Kieran, who graduated with a journalism degree from Leeds Beckett University in 2013, has gained media experience. His background is in radio and he first started presenting on Auckland Hospital Radio in Bishop Auckland General Hospital in 2009.

Kieran has also presented shows on Bishop FM, hosting the station’s flagship Saturday Sports Show since leaving university in 2013 and starting the Northern League Show in 2014.

Recognition PR works with some of the North’s top firms, including Bannatyne Fitness, Vertu Motors plc and Black Sheep Brewery and it also includes London-based Pimlico Plumbers in its client roster.

Graham Robb, senior partner at Recognition PR, said: “The appointments of Liz and Kieran to the team is fantastic news for Recognition PR. Liz has an impressive and compelling career history and will help take our business forward.

“The appointment of Kieran demonstrates our commitment to helping young people start a career. He will embark on our in-house training programme and has a great future ahead.”
