It is an exciting time for Mediaworks as the company looks to tap into more markets by appointing Darryl Sparey as one of two new business directors.
Darryl joins the company with more than 15 years of sales experience, which includes over five years as the group new business director at leading business information group Precise. At Mediaworks, he will be responsible for growing the business in London and the South.
In this role, Darryl will also be showcasing his extensive experience in the PR, communications and marketing world. His skills in these departments have previously been recognised by Amec when he was presented with the consultancy’s 2008 Young Professional of the Year Award. The judges commended Darryl by stating his “energy and commitment to professionalism in terms of PR evaluation is inspiring, and will hopefully lead other young talents to devote their time and energy to proving the impact of communications”.
The experience Darryl brings to Mediaworks is particularly relevant in the emerging area of online reputation management (ORM), with the company already seeing significant interest from clients in sectors like energy and utilities, legal and professional services.
Looking at the opportunities ahead, Darryl said: “An organisation’s reputation is increasingly shaped by what people find out about them online. Darryl added that changes to Google’s algorithm have tightly aligned the worlds of PR and SEO. This is due to the growing importance of gaining links from authoritative sites. However, he pointed out: “Rather than see these as competitive areas, we believe that we can complement and support in-house PR teams and PR agencies.
“We can help to optimise press releases and other assets for SEO benefits, and generally make the ‘off-line’ assets that PRs are creating work harder from a digital perspective.”
