Print and design company JAK Inc, of Darlington and Chester-le-Street, has strengthened its team with the appointment of four new staff members and a promotion into a newly-created position.

JAK Inc is an award-winning company offering a range of print and design services for a local, national and international client base.

As part of its expansion, JAK has hired two customer relationship managers, one graphic designer and one apprentice, marking the 10th consecutive year that the firm has increased the size of its team.

AMANDA STEEL, 26, and SARAH CALLAGHAN, 21, have both joined as customer relationship managers while DANIEL HALEY, 20, has been appointed as graphic designer, having recently graduated from college.

JANEAN FEARON, 21, has been taken on as an apprentice in the customer service department and JULIE TAYLOR has been promoted to office manager at the Chester-le-Street office.

She joined JAK in 2011 as web administration manager and since then has been responsible for managing the orders received through the firm’s website, where it has enjoyed year-on-year sales growth.

Julie’s contribution to the business was recognised and the new position of office manager was created for her. She will now oversee the customer relationship managers, the sales team for In&Around, the monthly magazine JAK produces, as well as the website side of the business.

Julie said: “I’m delighted to take on this new role, which will involve managing and developing the team and ensuring that our clients receive the best possible service. I hope that within my new remit I can play a key role in improving our offering and helping the business to grow in all areas.”

In addition to the new appointments and promotions, JAK is keen to help its staff progress and is committed to investing in training and qualifications.

All of the company’s apprentices are currently working towards NVQ qualifications with Derwentside College and, in line with JAK’s passion for providing excellent customer service, staff of all levels are also encouraged to attend regular training to develop their skills.

John Knowles, who co-owns the business with his son Andrew, said: “Bringing new jobs to the region is vitally important to us so we’re thrilled to have hired several new people, all of whom bring impressive experience and enthusiasm to the team. We’re also pleased to have given Julie a much-deserved promotion.

“It’s an exciting time for JAK – we’re not only expanding but also repositioning ourselves to offer more digital services such as website design and social media management. We now have a strong team in place that will help us to drive the business forward.”
