A growing firm of chartered surveyors has announced two new appointments following a period of growth in sales from its agency department.

Addisons Chartered Surveyors has welcomed Melanie Wilson as a senior sales negotiator to its Barnard Castle office, and Lizzie Tate as a negotiator to the firm’s Richmond base.

The company has served Barnard Castle and the wider dales area since the early 1900s providing expert advice on property, agriculture and valuation and has recently undergone a sustained period of growth within its residential agency department to keep up wth the general uplift in the market.

Adding to its 25-strong team working out of offices in Barnard Castle, Richmond and Crook, both Melanie and Lizzie will continue the growth and help deliver services to both new and existing customers, meeting increased demand across the region.

Following a 10-year career in estate agency, including sales roles at Reeds Rains, Bellway Homes and Keepmoat, Melanie, from Bishop Auckland is well practised in front-line customer service work and ensuring ongoing support of sales.

She said: “I’m thrilled to join Addisons Chartered Surveyors at a time when it is experiencing such a demand for business and I’m looking forward to operating within a housing market that I know and love so well.

Lizzie, from Kirkby Fleetham, joined Addisons Chartered Surveyors as an apprentice last year on completing her A-levels at Richmond School. Keen to experience the world of work and avoid student debt, she opted out of the university route to learn about the world of property and surveying.

To meet business demand, Lizzie’s role will see her based at the Richmond office which will be completely refurbished in October.

She said: “I’m excited to be given the opportunity to work alongside experienced branch manager Andrea Marsella as I continue with my training at Addisons Chartered Surveyors.

“My aim is to eventually qualify as a chartered surveyor and I’m confident that I have taken the right route to do that.”

Addisons brand manager Jill Simpson added: “Melanie has a wealth of experience in estate agency and we’re all delighted to welcome her to the team. With a mixture of negotiation, marketing and sales skills, her new role working alongside sales manager Jo Thompson will ensure that we have the right strategies and calibre of personnel to cement our reputation for good working relationships with clients in order to continue our growth and development.

“With Lizzie, her story is different in that she joined us at our Barnard Castle branch last year as an apprentice and her move to Richmond will be the next step in her training – we are delighted by her achievements.

“Addisons Chartered Surveyors is well-positioned to benefit from the growing housing market and we’re confident we have an exciting year ahead.”
