North East property developers, Adderstone Group, have secured planning permission for premium office space in an iconic location next to the Tyne Bridge on Gateshead’s Quayside.
The go-ahead was finally given following an 18-month process, which included an appeal after planning officers’ initial recommendations for approval were rejected by councillors.
Permission was granted by the Secretary of State this month for the two-storey commercial development and Adderstone are now keen to secure a partner to work with.
The 259 m2 (2,787 ft2) scheme will provide high specification office or commercial space and those interested in being involved can add their suggestions to the final design build.
Intersect Architects have worked with Adderstone throughout to develop a design that, on completion, will achieve a BREEAM ‘very good’ rating, ensuring a considered and sustainable approach to the build.
Julie Booth, director of Intersect Architects said: “Our aim throughout the design process has been to integrate the new building into its existing setting and provide a distinctive, contemporary structure in this prominent location.”Adderstone Group CEO, Ian Baggett said: “We are satisfied to now be able to bring another regeneration and employment opportunity to the region.”
