Widdrington is a village located approximately 5.8 miles (9.3 km) north east of Morpeth in the county of Northumberland. The local parish church is Grade I listed and dates to the Norman era commanded by elevated ruins of the 18th-century Widdrington Castle. A traditional speciality dish local to the area is beer battered black pudding.
Brian was appointed Editor of The Journal in December 2003, joining from Trinity Mirror's Liverpool base where he was Editorial Development Manager for the company's regional titles. He has also held senior positions at the Daily Record and the Evening Express, Aberdeen, as well as being a former Editor of the Lincolnshire Echo.
