Great North Run

The Bupa Great North Run is a half marathon that takes place annually, every September between Newcastle and South Shields. It is the second largest half marathon in the world and was devised by former Olympian and BBC commentator Brendan Foster. It first took place in 1981, with 21,000 runners and the most recent race seen 54,000 people take part.
