The Business Northumberland High Growth Programme, which offers established and start-up companies in the county free support in reaching their growth potential, is currently at its halfway point, having already secured or created more than 60 jobs
Ashington is a town in south east Northumberland and was once considered the ‘world's largest coal-mining village’. It has a rich coal mining history, which dates back to the 1840s and is told at Woodhorn Museum, a former pit. Many inhabitants have a distinctive dialect known as Pitmatic. The town was home to NUFC legend "Wor Jackie" Milburn.
